Nao Dance Collective Auditions

  NAO Dance Collective seeks male and female dancers for 6 tour members (18 years+, 3 female and 3 male) and 2 company apprentices (13 years+). Dancers should have technical training and a desire to make movement that is a true reflection of conscious choice and spontaneous reaction. Contact improvisational experience is prefered. Dancers selected for tour performance group will be required to attend Sunday Improv classes from 5pm to 6:30pm, at Harwood Watson Dance studios:

Contract lengths include 3 month, 6 month, and 12 month. There is a $10 audition fee for all new dancers and a $5 audition fee for returning NDC members (Cash or Check only please—checks to NAO Dance). Please bring a hard copy of your resume and headshot to the audition. The audition process will consist of a modern-based warm-up and an extended Improv Class. Dancers will be a part of the process that NAO Dance Collective uses to develop heightened physical, mental, and emotional awareness ultimately leading to extended improvisational pieces. Alice Takes Wonderland

Presenting a contemporary twist on the well-known classic Alice in Wonderland, Nao Dance Collective explores the fragile transitional period between childhood and adulthood in this fanciful, thought-provoking tale about metamorphosis and self-discovery.  With engaging improvisational choreography, original scores, live accompaniment and a powerful message, Alice Takes Wonderland explores what it means to ‘grow up’ by taking a sentimental look at the value of childhood.  Suitable for all ages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Annual Cocktail Party

Nao Dance Collective presents our annual Cocktail Benefit. In an effort to support the arts, this event will be an elegant evening of dancing, silent auctions, and raffle opportunities. This must see performance will consist of a three acts of premiering works as well as some of our audiences’ favorite repertoire pieces. Tickets for Nao Dance’s annual production will be on sale at discounted prices as well. It is advised to purchase tickets early as there will be limited seating and last year’s event was sold out. Urge

Will you bite from the forbidden fruit? Or will you resist the Urge of temptation? With the choice of good or evil brought to life on stage by the artists of Nao Dance Collective, our audience must brace themselves for a whirlwind journey of understanding, decision-making, and revelation. From the seducing tug of Lust to the lackadaisical fall of Sloth, the Urge Production represents its many obstacles through the use of 6 to 10 foot props including the table of Wrath and the swing of Envy. As the child of our story learns of the goodness and evil of life, she finds that only she can decide what's right and wrong. Winter

“Winter” is the newest holiday show in Central Florida. This premier show by Nao Dance Collective takes the audience into a land filled with Winter’s Wonder. Each guest will be transcending into the holiday spirit with hot coco and cookies as well as experience Nao Dance famous improv. Company, that Central Florida has come to love.
